Brandy

I like YA, new adult, and general fiction. Cozy mysteries and historical fiction are also some of my favorite genres. Some of my buzzwords are circuses, carnivals, and magician. I like some paranormal stuff, but way out there fantasy and science fiction just isn't my thing.

2018 End of Year Wrap Up

So November and December were a bust for Book club. This tends to happen around holiday time because it is hard to gather such a large group when everyone is also dealing with extra family, cooking, cleaning, and all things dealing with presents. January will also be a no book club month because for some reason this year we all seem to need some down time after Christmas. We will resume book club meetings in February when we come together after reading Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty.     I thought we could start off the new year by talking about how last years reading goals went for us and what our reading goals look like this year. Sam : I read 38 books and my goal was 24! I didn't meet all my goals though because I didn't finish the read harder challenge and I also stopped keeping track of what I had read which is really disappointing. I'm really hoping to keep track of everything this coming year and finally finish the challenge! In 2017 I ...

16 Kindle Unlimited Cozy Mysteries To Read

When I am in a reading drought I know that if I pick up any cozy mysteries I am most likely going to breeze through the whole series and want to find another. Besides going to my local used book store the best way to find and read the whole series is Kindle unlimited. Every once in a while I go through and make a list of a bunch of cozy mysteries on KU to keep on hand in case I need something light or something to pull me through a slump. Here are 16 series I came across that sounds like good reads! Murder on Bainbridge Island Book 1 of 9 The Mist Rises over Notchey Creek Tempest in Teaberry Book 1 of 16 Plotting for Murder Mind Your Manors Book 1 of 4 Southern Magic Book 1 of 12 Strawberries and Strangers Book 1 of 17 The Sweet Taste of Murder Book 1 of 6 The Buzz Kill Book 1 of 3 End of the Lane Book 1 of 5 Dead Wr...

October Meeting

The book of the month was Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage Sweetness can be deceptive.  Meet Hanna. She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good. Meet Suzette. She loves her daughter, really, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. As Hanna’s tricks become increasingly sophisticated, and Suzette's husband remains blind to the failing family dynamics, Suzette starts to fear that there’s something seriously wrong, and that maybe home isn’t the best place for their baby girl after all. No one read this book this month. It was a rough month for a lot of people in book club. November's book of the month is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi They killed my mo...
