October Meeting

The book of the month was Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage Sweetness can be deceptive.  Meet Hanna. She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good. Meet Suzette. She loves her daughter, really, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. As Hanna’s tricks become increasingly sophisticated, and Suzette's husband remains blind to the failing family dynamics, Suzette starts to fear that there’s something seriously wrong, and that maybe home isn’t the best place for their baby girl after all. No one read this book this month. It was a rough month for a lot of people in book club. November's book of the month is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi They killed my mo...

New Author

Hey guys! Thanks to kindle unlimited, I have found a new author I love! My favorite genre is suspense/thriller, and I love books that keep me guessing. These 2 definitely did that for me, and the twist at the end was so unexpected it made the book even better. Plus side, the books take place in London/ Devon (not sure exactly where that is) so if you listen to it with audio, the narrator talks with an English accent *swoon* I gave these both 4 stars, and would definitely recommend these to a friend.    When Ella Longfield overhears two attractive young men flirting with teenage girls on a train, she thinks nothing of it—until she realises they are fresh out of prison and her maternal instinct is put on high alert. But just as she’s decided to call for help, something stops her. The next day, she wakes up to the news that one of the girls—beautiful, green-eyed Anna Ballard—has disappeared. A year later, Anna is still missing. Ella is wracked with guilt over what she ...

Unicorn Crossing

Unicorn Crossing Another Phoebe and her unicorn adventure by Dana Simpson Characters: Phoebe is the main girl in the book The Unicorn’s name is Marigold Max is the boy she likes but she hasn’t said that yet. I can just tell. Dakota is the girl who picks on Phoebe in this book. Plot: Part of the plot is that they go camping, Marigold didn’t like camping and Phoebe was annoyed how Marigold was always humming. This part of the book is where they both have to figure out how to deal with each other’s problems and learn to compromise. Another part of the book is where Marigold has to leave for a few days and Phoebe has unicorn withdrawal. “I hope you will be alright without me for a few days” “ I survived for 9 whole years before I knew you, I could make it a few more days” “Until I return, farewell” Then I really like when Phoebe goes through the different stages of Unicorn withdrawal. Stage 1: Denial Stage 2: Anger Stage 3: Bargaining Stage 4: Depression & Stag...

Welcome!

We are a group of 11 people who love all different types of literature. Some of us read a lot and some of us read a little but no matter what we’re reading we love to discuss it. We thought this would be a good way to share all of our bookish thoughts. Feel free to leave yours as well! I Opened a Book By Julia Donaldson I opened a book and in I strode. Now nobody can find me. I’ve left my chair, my house, my road, My town and my world behind me. I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring, I’ve swallowed the magic potion. I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king And dived in a bottomless ocean. I opened a book and made some friends. I shared their tears and laughter And followed their road with its bumps and bends To the happily ever after. I finished my book and out I came. The cloak can no longer hide me. My chair and my house are just the same, But I have a book inside me.
